Victims

Return to Week Eight and Nine Assignments

Listen to the Comments

Victims of crime have been ignored or treated with indifference for much of recent times by the criminal justice system. I have seen victims turn against the criminal justice system because they don't believe that they have been treated well. The focus of their anger sometimes is on law enforcement and this leads to difficulty in holding the suspect accountable for their offense. The system actors need to do a better job of supporting the victim through the investigative and judicial process.

This section of the class provides some information about the Colorado laws concerning victims and other important information.
