General Comments and Requirements

Writing Requirements
You are required to write and submit via the Jones System responses to these questions. See the syllabus for further information.
Paper Submissions
All papers must be in 12 point type, and may be submitted in MS Word (Office 2000 or lower), Word Perfect (8 or lower), or Rich Text Format (RTF). Pages must be numbered and the students name must be on each page. Students must maintain a copy of any and all papers until the end of the course. Papers not meeting these requirements will be returned to the student. (Note: lower means that the edition is an earlier edition than those listed.
Collaboration with others
Students may discuss topics with others via any medium, however, work submitted must be original to the student submitting the work. The mid-term and final exam are take home and thus students may discuss the questions with each other, however, each students submitted work must be their original work.
Jones System
This class makes extensive use of the Jones System. You will need to have an e-mail account, and be familiar with the use of the Jones System. If you do not have an e-mail address then as a student at MSCD you may obtain an e-mail address. Additionally, computers on campus will allow you to gain access to this course.
Discussion Topics
Each of the segments of the course require that you post comments on each segment. These comments are similar to classroom participation and are part of your grade. You are required to make a minimum of a two comments per segment. A comment, to be acceptable, must be pertinent to the question raised in the discussion section of the topic or segment and must be based on a reading of the required articles or information.
Written Requirements
Students must provide a two or three page response to the written topics provided in each of the segments or topics. The papers are due by the Monday following the end of the topic or segment discussion.
Additional
It is expected that students have an understanding of computers and their use. You will need to submit papers via the Jones System, respond to discussions on line and review material via the WWW. If you lack skills in these areas you need to develop the knowledge and the skills needed to complete the course. In brief you need to know how to use the Jones System, WWW, send e-mail, type papers and make attachments to e-mail.
Self Evaluation

During the last week of the class, and due no later than the Friday of the last week students must send the instructor an answer to the following questions:

  1. Assess your performance in the class, in terms of the discussion topics, on a scale from one to ten, with ten being high, rate your responses to the discussion topics. Justify your rating of your performance by writing about your comments about the discussion topics.

  2. Assess your performance in the class on a scale of one to ten, with ten being high, rate your involvement in the class. Justify this by writing about the written assignments you completed and your understanding of the readings for the class. This resposne may not exceed 200 words.
